I was born in a place where love took root,
Where my Nanay and Tatay’s lives found pursuit.
She, a civilian with quiet grace,
He, a soldier, steadfast in his place.
Their worlds collided, a fateful start,
Two lives entwined, one beating heart.
In that humble spot where their story began,
They dreamed of a future, a hopeful plan.
But when I arrived, the night turned grim,
Nanay fought hard, her chances slim.
Eclampsia’s shadow darkened the room,
A battle waged in life’s fragile bloom.
Yet through the pain, through fear and strife,
She held on tight to give me life.
They named me Esperanza, a name so true,
Hope for tomorrow, for dreams to pursue.
I see her now in this faded light,
Her strength, her love, her endless fight.
In her arms, I feel the past and the vow,
The story of hope that made me now.
